How you lead starts within.

What happens within us shapes how we lead, how we work together, and how we navigate what comes next.

Based in Davidson, NC. Available nationwide for coaching, consulting, and retreats.

You have a vision and a strategy for what’s next.

Leaders spend a lot of time thinking about where we're going, what needs to happen, and how we'll get there. But how we lead toward those goals is shaped by something less visible.

Our values. Our strengths. Our experiences and assumptions. The patterns we fall into under pressure. What activates us. What grounds us. And our ability to create enough space between what happens and how we respond.

Understanding these parts of ourselves gives us more than self-awareness. It helps us develop an inner strategy for how we want to lead, especially when things get difficult.

What happens within us shapes what happens between us.

Our inner world doesn't stay contained within us. How we respond to uncertainty, manage tension, listen, communicate, and navigate our emotions becomes part of the experience we create for the people around us.

Teams develop patterns of their own. Beneath the goals, roles, and strategies are relationships, assumptions, expectations, trust, tension, and things that remain unsaid. These dynamics shape how people work together, navigate change and challenge, and what's possible for the team.

That's the human side of leadership and team development.

Ways We Can Work Together

Executive & Leadership Coaching

Individual coaching for executives and leaders who want to better understand themselves, recognize the patterns shaping how they lead, and navigate growth, change, and challenge with greater awareness and intention.

Team Development & Facilitation

Customized experiences that help teams better understand themselves and one another, strengthen trust and psychological safety, navigate difficult conversations, and develop more intentional ways of working together.

Consulting & Organizational Development

Thought partnership and customized support for leaders and organizations navigating change, developing people, strengthening teams and culture, or working through complex organizational challenges.

Retreats & Offsites

Thoughtfully designed experiences that give teams the space to step out of the day-to-day, deepen connection, address what matters, and move forward with greater clarity and intention.

Speaking & Workshops

Engaging, interactive experiences that invite leaders and teams to think differently, deepen awareness, and translate insight into practical tools for how they lead and work together.

Safe enough to be real. Stretched enough to grow.

Meaningful growth requires both safety and stretch.

Too much safety without enough challenge can keep people comfortable but unchanged. Too much stretch without enough safety can lead people to protect themselves, shut down, or disengage.

The Safety & Stretch Leadership® framework is grounded in the belief that people and teams grow when they feel seen, valued, and supported enough to take risks, ask questions, challenge the status quo, and reach toward what's possible, while also being held accountable, challenged, and coached toward higher performance.

This balance shapes how I approach every aspect of my work with leaders and teams.

I've partnered with leaders, teams, and organizations across for-profit, nonprofit, higher education, healthcare, government, and professional services to strengthen leadership, develop teams, navigate change, and create meaningful opportunities for growth.

Uncertainty is a constant in nonprofit work, and in leadership more broadly, but the wisdom and exploration of self that Heather so expertly offered, grounded me. I now feel more secure, centered, and confident in my leadership, no matter what challenges arise. Working with Heather is one of the best investments you can make in your whole self.”
